This method is also recommended for stressed individuals and it can relax the patient through light trance that the therapist induces to the patient. This light trance can be easily lived by every person, every day. We can think of the example when we are reading a book and not hear anything around us. The only difference is that the therapist helps the patient overcome the difficult moments that have marked him or her, re-building up their lost confidence. Another issue dealt with this method is hysteria. There have been cases when hysteric people have paralyzed partially or totally, and this issue has been dealt through hypnosis therapy. For these subjects, the issue is not medical but it is related to their unconscious mind. Specialists mention that hypnosis is a trance state characterized by high suggestibility, relaxation, and rich imagination of the therapist.
It is not sleep, because the patient’s mind is conscious and it is working, but his or her activity is restricted, allowing thus the contact with the inner world and mobilizing the unconscious mind to focus on the problem, which must be treated, for example lack of confidence. The state of hypnosis trance, according to psychologists, can be induced by different methods. It depends on each therapist’s imagination, but for inducing trance to the patient, the therapist can use the pendulum or a simple clock. It is important for the patient to have his or her heartbeat regulated, and any state of tension must be.
The therapist does not play games with the patient’s mind. The state of trance which is induced by a specialist to the subject cannot affect the latter's personality. The individual is fully aware of what is happening around, and every noise can get him or her out of that feeling of relaxation. The psychotherapist cannot make the patient do something without his or her will. It depends on the imagination of each specialist. A good example may be funny stories, which help individuals overcome tough times. The specialists underline that for a guaranteed success of this method, the patient must confide in him or her.
The patient has to mention the things he or she wants to talk about, like confidence in our case and certain details must not be omitted, as those small details will remain in the subconscious mind, and the problem cannot be treated. Another essential aspect for overcoming the problem is motivation. The subject must be willing to solve his or her problem, because otherwise, there will be no beneficial effect, regardless the hypnosis method, which is used by the therapist.
